How to Transfer Your Domain

If your domain is not transferred before its renewal date, it will expire 1–2 years from the purchase date (depending on the domain type). To ensure you maintain ownership and control, follow these steps to complete your domain transfer.

Step 1: Choose a Domain Registrar

To transfer your domain, you need to complete a domain transfer request through a domain registrar. This should be the registrar you plan to manage your domain with moving forward. Some common registrars include:

If you don’t already have an account with a registrar, you’ll need to create one.

Step 2: Submit a Domain Transfer Request

Once you’ve chosen your registrar, follow their process to request a domain transfer. This typically involves:

  1. Logging into your registrar account.
  2. Finding the Domain Transfer section.
  3. Entering your domain name and following their instructions to initiate the transfer.

Each registrar has its own process, but all require a transfer request to begin.

Step 3: DAIS Approval & Transfer Process

Once you submit the request, your new registrar will send an automatic transfer notification to DAIS. This initiates the transfer process, which can take between 2–14 business days, depending on your registrar.

Important Notes

  • DAIS cannot handle this process for you and is not responsible if the domain registration lapses.
  • After the transfer, you will have full control of your billing, console access, and account details within your new registrar account.
  • Update your billing details in your new account—once the transfer is complete, DAIS will no longer have access to renewal reminders or payments.
